Dear Jay, It seems just like yesterday--when we learned that you were one of the two Captains who had died in Iraq. But, this is the fourth Memorial Day since you marched from the United States Army over to God's Army. I have continued to play my music, and today will be the twelfth Memorial Day Concert to honor you. Why do I continue, when only a few people understand the reasons behind the holiday? Because you understood the reason for music when you gave me the mouthpiece engraved, "Mom, music fueled by love." Your children must understand that you had the will to continue, and triumph. Someday Adeline, Ralph and Warren will learn that even Grandma refused to be overwhelmed by adversity, and they will do all of those wonderful deeds that we talked about. I can see them developing the strength now. Jay, did you ever know that you're our hero? Please put in a good word for those of us who are left behind. Mama June Harting |
