Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Adam Sabourin on April 19, 2004:
I have known Erin since Beast. I also knew her through flight school and was stationed here at Hunter AAF with Erin. She took over the POL (3/5) platoon from me and was doing an awesome job. I cant say enough about Erin but did have the opportunity to speak for our class at her rememberance ceremony here in Savannah. Here is what I said: Her smile. Her smile is what I will remember the most. For some strange reason when Erin Springsteen smiled at you or laughed at a joke you told, it had the power to make you feel special. I knew Erin for quite some time as many of you know. Memories of West Point all the way through flight school come flooding to mind. Yet somehow when I reflect over the past five years that I have had the privilege of getting to know her, I can safely say that I came to a few conclusions that, in my mind, are irrefutable. ? She always found a way to make life fun? as evidenced by her convertible Ford Mustang with the cadet sticker still on it! ? She had an unparalleled sense of humor. ? She was an unbelievably loyal friend who not only listened to your venting, but made you feel like you were perfectly justified in your feelings no matter what the issue. ? She also loved to fly. Perhaps most of all, she will remain in my memory as a purpose driven soldier who settled for nothing less than perfection. Erin will remain in our hearts and minds as being forever young?. I will miss her very much, and pray that God will hasten the day we can all see her again in heaven.
I hope that all you guys (my classmates) know that what I said at the ceremony was from all of us... not just me. Adam
