Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Sarah Stitt (Hatton) on April 21, 2004:
Well, here I am sitting here in Iraq. I was thinking about Erin and the softball team the other day and then finding out that Erin is no longer with us a couple of days later was quite a shock to me. I remember Erin as one of the most special people I have ever met. Reading some of the eulogies posted here, I can see that everyone else seems to agree. Like all of you, I remember her best for her sense of humor. She was absolutely one of the funniest people I know, and believe me, I know lots of funny people. This was definitely a gift that Erin had. During my time with her on the softball team at WP, I knew nobody else who could make anyone feel so good about themselves as Erin could. She had that rare ability that seemed to magnetically attract people to her company. I remember vividly how we used to have these batting practices on some of the coldest days of the early spring during our two years on the team together. We would throw the ball to warm up while we could hardly feel our fingers and then just burst out laughing because it was so rediculously cold. She never complained when I would throw "wild" pitches for her to chase (I was definitely thankful for that) She always made me laugh with her antics. Erin was a truly special person and I miss her terribly. I know she is smiling down on us right now.
To her family: I would like to thank you for your gift to the world of such a wonderful daughter with a beautiful personality.
To Erin: I miss you and hope you know what a positive impact you have had on all of us. We all love you!
