Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Craig King on September 8, 2008:

I had the honor to serve under and work for MAJ Feistner while we stood up E Co. at Ft. Campbell and was with him on that last night. Although none of the enlisted men knew him well while in the garrison environment, MAJ Feistner left a long lasting impression on me in combat. His style and leadership was that of a true warrior. When asked how many of his men required the ROE brief, without hesitation, he said all of us did. Then, patiently explained to the little Air Force staff puke that we were all warriors. When another member of our sister service tried to hijack some -130's that he "owned", I was witness to one of the most professional, heartfelt butt chewings I have ever seen. It wasn't that he was EVER unprofessional, but we needed our equipment moved ASAP and the troops were counting on it to complete our mission. He always ensured we had the tools to do just that. It was a true honor to serve with MAJ Feistner and he is sorely missed. WILDHORSE!
