Born February 2, 1929 - Died November 26, 1985
Diego Alonso "Jim" Jimenez was born in Panama City, Republic of Panama on 2 February 1929 and was appointed to West Point by the President as a Foreign Cadet.
His West Point classmates recall: "Entering Beast Barracks with very little knowledge of English, Jim had a really hard time ahead but he soon got up to the occasion. A whole lot of logic, a fighting spirit, and a sense of humor that you can really appreciate - that's Jim. With the able and pleasant way with which he has overtaken the many obstacles of his cadet life a look to the future reveals nothing but success for him."
During his cadet days Diego was with the Camera Club all four years; with the Ski Club plebe, yearling, and first class years; with the Spanish Club yearling, cow, and first class years; with the Skeet Club cow year; and was a Cadet Sergeant his first class year.
Upon graduation Diego returned to Panama where he was engaged in the family Import-Export business and in 1978 was named Chief Executive Officer of CONASE.
Diego died of a stroke in Panama on 26 November 1985 and his remains were placed in a crypt in the Chapel of Colegio Javier Jimenez, Panama. Survivors include his wife Daira, four children, Ana Berta, Juan Carlos, Marta Estela and Roberto Alonso, and eight grandchildren.
