Be Thou At Peace
Posted by The Quinn Family Westpoint Class 2012 on January 12, 2009:
Our family was deeply saddened by the tragic news of Gordon Fein's death. Our deepest and most sincere thoughts and prayers are with you in this very trying time.
Our family had the distinct pleasure of spending A-Day weekend with Gordon as he accompanied our son during our visit to West Point. We were much taken by how outgoing and friendly he was and how tolerant he was of our 10-year-old daughter turning him into a jumping/tackling bag. We spent quite a few hours together, over several good meals and a considerable amount of good conversation during the weekend. We were very thankful for his company because we learned much more about their recent Beast experience than we might have had our son been alone. Gordon was a humorous young man and very quick to laugh at himself. Between Gordon and my son our whole family got a wonderful, colorful insider's representation of the first seven weeks of West Point. We were fond of him immediately.
If he said it once he said it 10 times, how he couldn't wait to bring his mother's barbecue to West Point for us to share. He seemed very proud of his family back home. Gordon and our son traveled to Pennsylvania to stay with my sister and her family during their next break, including an adventure with trains and buses through New York City. Their hosts, too, had nothing but kind, good words about Gordon and he left with an outstanding open invitation to return any time.
I guess it's not for us to know why certain things happen but we know that for the time Gordon spent with us we felt very privileged and blessed. May he rest in peace!
