Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Diane Buttolph Doten Creasey on February 5, 2009:
In 1970, my ex-husband (Fred Doten - E-2) was sent to the University of Arizona for a Masters Degree. The Fraser's were also assigned to the UofA. In 1971 we had a German Exchange student living with us. Fred and I, with Harry and Marilyn's help, decided to have a Halloween Party for ALL the Youth for Understanding 'kids'. The girls playroom was emptied and the men went to work creating a TRUE Halloween atmosphere - anything scary was put there. Fred and I had '4' daughters so they were looking forward to this party UNTIL Harry and Marilyn came back that evening in their costumes! Marilyn had wrapped Harry up as a 'mummy' with a knife in his back. Harry had 'discussed' HIS costume with our girls so they would know him when he returned. Our 4 year old went ballistic until Marilyn unwrapped Harry's face and she could see him. She still brings this 'memory' up at Halloween as it really gave her nightmares for a time. We enjoyed our UofA-Tucson tour with Harry and Marilyn. Many happy times and memories from those two years.
