Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Terrence P. O'Rourke on February 5, 2009:

Uncle Bud,
I was very sad to learn of your death. It seems that whenever I got to visit with you, MY relatives would wind up arguing.

The last time I saw you at Ft. Lewis you gave me some advice for when I got to Viet Nam which I Greatfully and Truly appreciated. I never told you how much I respected you.. You were a Hero to me.

I remember being at your house on Ft. Lewis, in the kitchen, while you made your famous Martini. I watched you standing there, in your fatigues, you looked like what I and everyone would call a perfect Officer. I believe you looked like what Hollywood would cast as an Officer and a Gentleman.

Not only did you look the part but everything you had done was awesome. All of the projects you had done; the nike zeus, the radio antenna atop the Empire State building, having been a Lt/Captain in Korea, three tours as an advisor in VietNam and at that time the Commander of the artillary (missles) and who knows what classified projects.

I hope someday to find your grave, so that I may pay my respects.

I also hope to see Carol Ann, Babs and Peter who I do not know how to contact.

I repeat, You Were my Hero.

LOVE,
Terry O'Rourke
