Be Thou At Peace

| Bill, I was thinking of you the other day, as I often did while stationed at NTC. Then I came across this site and decided to write you a note. You were a kind and helpful guy and I remember how saddened I was when I learned of your death. I remember one particularly cold North Georgia night when we were in Ranger school and you volunteered to take that damn heavy radio and carried it most of the way along the 12 mile or so march back to Camp Merrill in Dahlonega. We were all exhausted but you somehow talked me into taking the radio from you at the end. I really didn't want to but I look back now and I remember how many people just flat refused you. I am glad to have been able to help you in this life as you gave so much to others. What if I had passed on that opportunity? I look forward to seeing you again one day and laughing about how bad we felt that night. May you rest in peace 'til I see you again, brother. |
