I didn't know J.T. very well while we were cadets. Rather, I had the honor of getting to know him during Armor OBC at Fort Knox. We had our whole Army careers ahead of us. We were so young. I remember J.T. as often being a bit quiet, but always eyeing the mayhem caused by others with a sly smile. If anyone started getting a little carried away or off-color, he might fire off a single barked command of "Easy!", which usually broke the tension and produced chuckles. I remember during our "10-day war" the weather was cold and it rained a bit. J.T. was very stoic, but he could find ironic humor in all of our discomfort. Rest easy brother. |
