Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dr. Gordon W. Arbogast on May 29, 2004:

Hunter was a joy to be around. His attitude and personality were infectious and always a positive influence. We were in the same Ranger squad and Hunter's good cheer kept us going in many of those long and tough patrols in the worst terrain of Georgia and Florida. I next saw Hunter when I was arriving in Vietnam in June '66. We had supper at the 5 Oceans Hotel in Saigon and he was just leaving the country. He was exhausted and had just finished a tough year as an advisor. It was straight talk and it was invaluable to me in getting my bearings. Frustrated as he was with his first tour, he was back very shortly and it was then that he paid the ultimate price. Farewell to a good friend - you are gone but not forgotton.
