Sir I have spent many a year within the army, but to this day you were and still are the measure I compare any officer I serve with to. You never put your gain before your men, and never looked down upon anyone. I was with you that day, and only a moments pause placed Spc Mattis at the wheel with you instead of me. Your inspirational leadership caused him even though ill, to still drive for you as he feared letting you down. The courage you displayed to your platoon is what made me always want to ride with 4th platoon and why I chose yours above all others. Years have passed, many have moved on but I still remember you most and pray for you and your family daily. I only hope that when the day comes that we meet again I have not let you down. Alpha Dawgs first, but Patriots always. |
