Be Thou At Peace

Posted by William Van Cook on June 4, 2004:

I stood by Donald's grave this morning, June 4, 2004. West Point was a quiet place today. The first memories I have of anyone are those of the brother who slept no more than 6 feet from me everyday of my life until he went off to Beast Barracks in the Summer of 1964. A boy, only 17.Four years later a man went to Viet Nam. 35 years ago today a rocket took Donald's life. Never far from my thoughts even all these years later. His blue eyes, boyish grin and gentle demeanor won you over in a flash. He had a gift of infecting others with his joy for life.On this anniversary of Donald's passing please join me in celebrating Donald's brief life. Those who knew him knew no greater friend. Those of us who shared his love , knew no greater love. Bless you big brother.
