Norman Eugene Dunlap

Born August, 17, 1927 - Died June 1, 2004

Norman Eugene "Norm" Dunlap was born in El Monte, California on 17 August 1927 and was appointed to West Point from the 12th Congressional District.

His West Point classmates recall: "This smiling lad came to us from the Golden State with an unusual proficiency in tennis and hockey. Norm has shown many of us what cool thinking and grim determination can do. He has mastered all, be it with academics, athletics, or with the fairer sex. A good product of West Point, but still retaining some of that California sunshine, our conquering hero enters the lists well equipped."

During his cadet days Norm played Tennis and Hockey all four years, he was with the Chess and German Clubs his yearling year and was a Cadet Sergeant his first class year.

On graduation Norm went in the Artillery and after completing the Basic Artillery Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma reported to his first duty station. In 1958 Norm was assigned to the Foreign Language Department at West Point to teach German and remained until 1972 when he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Norm and his wife Maria made their home in Monterey, California.

Norm died on June 1, 2004
