Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Jennifer Mione Bonner on June 7, 2009:
My Farewell for Daddy
As I take the time, to reflect through the years
Many sweet memories, could bring me to tears
Like card games, Parcheesi, Tripoli & Park Place
Playing in his sawdust, or feeling his hand on my face
The HOURS at the table, helping homework get done,
Fixing bicycles, playing tetherball, and pick-up-sticks were grand fun!
But fewer things were more precious, or could make my heart soar
Than Dancing with Daddy, across the living room floor!
From the time I was little, standing on TOP of his feet
He would twirl me around, in perfect time to the beat
With his big hand holding mine, and his other on my back
He would lead me & guide me, and keep me on track
As I grew to full stature, all the steps I did learn -
The Cha-Cha, the Polka, gentle waltzes & turns
Across every dance floor, he gently showed me the way
And as I look back now, I can see on THIS day....
That each piece of The Dance, impacted greatly my life
As a daughter - a woman - a mom & a wife.
The Love he imparted from his hand to mine
His hand of Wisdom on my back, guided me strongly through time
His footsteps of Integrity, impacted all of my ways
And the Security in his arms, stabilized me all of my days.
But the LORD tapped Dads shoulder, & put HIS Hand in mine
And now HE guides me securely, in The Dance - until the time -
When, by His merciful Love, & His Heart-filled Grace,
He allows me once again, to see my dear Dad face-to-face.
When it is my time to cross over, to that Heavenly Shore
Hopefully living near Daddy, in the mansion next door,
With joyful praise I will join the Eternal Glorious Throng
And once again - Dance with Daddy - to Gods Heavenly Song!!
I loved him dearly -- and will miss him greatly......
