Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Len Yarbrough on October 13, 2009:

Bill, I really only knew you through high school, yet the news of your passing has hit me especially hard. Ever since I leaned about your final day of service, I see the American flag in a different light. You see, the phrase, 'personal sacrifice for country' had a hollow ring until that day.

I'm sorry I didn't keep in closer contact with you - but that's a constant lament of the living for the dead, isn't it?

I'm proud to say we were friends, even for a brief time. I do think of you often, and I find inspiration from your life. I cannot say that I have sacrificed like you have - but from reading the other eulogies there's little doubt you live on in our hearts forever. I miss you.

'Well Done;
Be Thou At Peace.'

Thank you for your sacrifice, Bill.
