Be Thou At Peace

| To Pat and the entire Topping Family - regrettably family events prevented me from participating in the Memorial Service today. But my thoughts of you, and of Gary, have been constant since October 11. Gary was not just a classmate to me during those four formative years long ago; he was a brother, roommate, and dear friend. His free spirit, competitiveness and pride served to inspire us all and me personally. It was that free spirit that also served to humor when humor was needed. I will never forget that hearty laugh, and biting wit. It is sad that as we all approach our later years, and reflect on the essence of our years long ago as a "band of brothers", in the truest sense, that I won't be able to thank Gary for his special gift to me of friendship. Allow me to say thank you now, Gary...thank you my brother. May you rest in the hollow of God's eternal blessing and be thou at peace forever. |
