Today, Veteran's Day, I found out about Steve's passing. I'm saddened, but happy to have known him. To me, he'll always be Sir, or Colonel. I was his driver at 2/2Inf in Ft. Lewis when he commanded there. You can well imagine the relationship a driver and his CO have. I'm full of fond memories of him and the times we shared as soldiers together. When our battalion was inactivated, he gave me a plaque. It reads: From LTC STEVE BOWMAN, 2d Bn, 2d Infantry To SP4(P) TYE KIVELA 1987-1988 Driver, Friend, Professional Till we meet again, my friend.
