I had the privilege and honor of attending Plebe weekend at West Point as Jeff's date. His precious mother, Sarah, was also there and ever so proud. My attic is filled with boxes of eloquently written letters ranging from life as a plebe and how to make toast using the silver coffee pot, to psychological warfare and dropping letters from the air. With every word you could tell how proud Jeff was to be a West Point graduate. Our families share a long history together, but I sadly lost touch when Jeff's mother moved from Atlanta. My 98-year-old mother was so stunned when she received the phone call about Jeff's passing, that she did not get any contact information for Sarah or Jeff's brother, Jimmy.
