Jeff Jones was a National Treasure. My life changed for the better because I knew Jeff (and Pam) and learned from them. I never thought I'd work for a West Pointer ... and after service with/for Jeff from '98-'00 I learned what West Point leadership is. I've since worked for four other West Pointers, all LTG's or GEN, all great, but not Jeff Jones "Gold Standard" great. For six of the last eight years I've operated in the Central Command Area of Responsibility. Whenever I ask a senior PSYOP or SOF colleague on the battlefield, "Do you know Jeff Jones?" the answer is invariably "yes" and we have an immediate common bond of friendship based on abiding esteem for an incredible American soldier-citizen who helped shape a generation of officers. Jeff's legacy continues ... he lives in the hearts of his family, his countrymen. Whenever I think of "leader," whenever I think of "friend," I will always think of Jeff Jones, Husband, Soldier, Citizen, Friend. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Shipmate. |
