| I remember John from serving on the cadre with him during Beast Barracks. I knew him only during those brief months, but I'll never forget his smile and ability to have fun even during that intense time. The cadets in his squad admired and respected him. On the march back from Buckner, we couldn't hear the drum, and he quietly whispered "Call out a cadence. This is their day, and we need to make them look good." He demonstrated the best kind of leadership, the kind that comes from truly caring about people and helping them succeed. |
