Jeff was one of my roommates and, over the years, I came to appreciate what was his unflagging optimism and general good will. He seemed incapable of cynicism himself and was hurt to discover it in others. Jeff could be upbeat even when the situation seemed the most bleak. Perhaps this was a quality the Lord gave Jeff to face the trials He knew would lay ahead for him. I know he rests now in peace and I appreciate the gift of equanimity and optimism he left behind for those of us who knew and loved him. |
