Roland Dean Tausch
West Point, 1951
Be Thou At Peace
Posted by #2 Daughter Aleen on August 15, 2004:
Reading your eulogies about Roland Dean Tausch took me fast-forward from early childhood memories playing under West Point stadium stands during Cadet Reviews, and winding up wintery Storm King Mountain from Vail's Gate, through larger-than-life globetrotting with our family of 6 around the world (over 50 homes on 3 continents by their retirement).
The eulogies also yielded insights about Roland's career including medals, about which he was modest, and his service as "an officer and a gentleman" in the historic Long Gray Line.
Fellow USMA offspring appreciating Roland's picture in the front of the Howitzer yearbook warms my heart too. Wasn't he beautiful. (I'll have to look up Tab Hunter for the resemblance! Burt Lancaster reminded me of Roland Dean when he was young, Robert Redford in his mid years, and Roger Moore later in life. And Roland's lifetime "O&O" Geraldine aka "Gerry" noted resembling Lee Remick.)
Thank you for appreciating this couple's wholehearted dedication to West Point's noble calling of "Duty, Honor, Country," honored to represent USMA Class of '51 from post-World-War-II Germany through Viet Nam and American reconstruction. God bless America, and (one of Gerry's favorites from Charles Dickens), "God bless US, every one." #2 Daughter & proud USMA Army brat Aleen
