Robert Campbell Cassibry

Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Michael Personette on March 27, 2010:
One of my favorite teachers in high school taught geometry. I expected geometry to be tough, but from the first day of class my teacher made it not only understandable, but also interesting and even fun. He told us to call him Mr. Cassibry.
One day I was talking with my father about my geometry teacher and when I got to his name my father asked, "Do you mean General Cassibry?" I said, "He told us his name was Mr. Cassibry, why?"
My father, Lt. Col. Chester A. Personette (deceased), worked for many years at the Pentagon where he knew General Cassibry. My dad had heard that upon retirement General Cassibry had gone into teaching and he wondered if that is who taught me geometry.
As soon as my father said this, I knew Mr. Cassibry was, in fact, BG Robert Campbell Cassibry. And while I can say nothing of his military service I can tell you that he was a wonderful teacher with a gentle smile and a quirky demeanor that kept his students interested.
So thanks, General Cassibry, not only for your service to your country, but also for your service to your students. You were an inspiration.
