Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Myrna Aasheim on August 25, 2004:
I remember so vividly the last time I saw Michael - it was Christmas 1967 at a holiday party back home in Montana. He was eagerly anticipating graduation the coming spring and then on to Vietnam. I expressed my concerns but in true Michael fashion... he said not to worry - everything would be fine! When I heard of his death it was as though someone had taken my breath away and recollection even at this moment... still takes my breath away. I can't help but think of what might have been. He had so very much to offer this world. I have accepted that it wasn't to be - but 36 years later it still hurts. Saralda, if you are reading this - you know that over the years, I have kept you and your family in my prayers, knowing full well that one never completely recovers from such a tragic loss. I can only hope that you and your family know and realize that there are so many of us "out there" that still remember and care so deeply.
