I had the honor of working with Al in USAA's Military Affairs group USAA during the last 6 years, as we were hired within months of each other to represent USAA at USMA and USNA respectively. Al became fond of using the Navy term, "shipmate," with its connotations of camaraderie, respect and true team spirit. I learned much from him about West Point and all things Army, and his enduring love of country, Army, West Point, and above all, his family, always impressed me. Farewell, shipmate, fair winds and following seas to you. I was honored to know you. |
