Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Michael Duffy on September 15, 2004:

Bill and Evelyn were our neighbors at Belvoir in '83 and we spent a lot of time with them and their family (and this was before they had children). Evelyn's cooking was a major reason Bill and I became close friends.

Bill's willingness to hang with the international gang - Nusret Gokman, Tony Gil, Abdul Kadir and the others somehow suggested that his engineering would take him far afield. Now it's taken him away from us, but in the process he did what many are unable of doing - he left the planet a little better in places that need it most.

My memories of Bill are as deep and as fresh as when he and I were at his place one lunch in 1983 playing videogames (or studying, I can't recall precisely) and we looked over and saw the bulging eyes of his dog's head stuffed into my mug trying to lap the beer out of the bottom. Brewbeast left us long ago, and Bill too has left us prematurely. Our fond memories of Bill and Evelyn and those days as junior officers will last as long as Denise and I live.

Truly Top of the Line classmate and friend.

Deepest condolences and affection,
Michael
