Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Pat Sullivan on July 12, 2010:
Woody's former Commander, Colonel John Caban delivered a beautiful eulogy on July 3 at Patrick's Air Force Base; 38 years to the day that the USMA Class of 1976 was inducted into service for our country. John eloquently told the story of Woody's childhood and high school days, Woody's devotion to his family, and his dedicated service to our country through the Air Force and Army.
West Pointers that attended the military honor service with family and friends were Dave Kristick, Steve Craig, Randy Sager, his brother Mark and I. John focused on a central theme throughout Woody's life: Living life to its fullest with zest, love and respect, and with a sense of humor. From Patrick Air Force base, family and friends traveled to Marathon, Florida in the Keys; where Jane and their daughter Niki and son Tori released Woody's ashes on the clear blue waters of Key West which was Woody's favorite place.
Woody, has in his life, faced his pending death with character and grace. Woody was extremely proud of his family, friends and classmates; and I was always honored and proud to call Woody my friend!
