Donald Henry Roloff

Born May 3, 1927 - Died January 30, 2004


Donald Henry "Don" Roloff was born in Michigan on 3 May 1927 and was appointed to West Point from the Army of the United States.

His West Point classmates recall: "After serving in the Army Air Corps, Don came to West Point via the Stewart Field USMAPS well versed in Army routine. Although far from being a hive, Don usually managed to keep ahead of the Academic Department. Excelling on the athletic field, he could be found where ever competition was taking place. His diligence and perseverance will carry him far in his chosen branch - the Air Force. During his cadet days Don went out for Soccer all four years; went out for Lacrosse and the Pistol Team plebe year; was with the Pistol Club yearling, cow and first class years; and was a Cadet Lieutenant his first class year.

Upon graduation Don went in the Air Force and after flying training reported to his first duty station. Next Don went with the 3205th Drone Squadron where he served from 1959 to 1961. Don's next tour was with the 6594th Rescue Control Group where he served until 1964 and from there went as Operations Officer at Hanscom Field until 1965. From 1965 to 1968 Don served as Professor of Military Science with the Reserve Officers Training Corps at Virginia Military Institute and from there went with the 14th Special Air Operations, Republic of Vietnam through 1968. In 1972 Don resigned his commission as a Major and returned to civilian life.

First he became a Manager with Colonial West Associates and in 1986 became a Real Estate Broker a position he continued to hold until his death on January 30, 2004. Don made his home in Keene, New Hampshire.
