Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Virginia Johnston on July 30, 2010:
Floyd, or Allan as he was known, left us on December 30, 2009 after a year of physical decline but still with his sharp wit, which he constantly used to entertain us. We had enjoyed over 40 yrs of happiness together with our combined family of five children and three grandchildren. One tragedy of losing a son in 1994 was heart wrenching to us all.
Allan is at rest in such a wonderful place high on the hill at Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley, CA among the old, old trees shading the drive that winds beneath their arching branches. The fog of San Francisco, of course, comes around the peaks and trees and can give a peaceful silence and I know Allan is happy to be forever in his beloved Bay Area.
The family service was held at Fernwood against a wall of glass looking out upon a beautiful waterfall. One of our son-in-laws wrote and conducted the service which contained input from each child and grandchild. Allan's Urn, Orchids and a picture of him as a young man in a flight suit standing on the wing of an airplane adorned the table. He would have liked that for he loved his plane and flying and he is soaring now among the Angels.
Until we meet again..............
