It was great to be around Marty. He seemed tireless and his smile and humor could lift your spirits. But it was another thing in the ring. He was a talented boxer with very quick hands and that's where I met him in the "Rings of Friendly Strife." I was game with a fast jab but not too fast for Marty who flicked my jab down with his right and just as fast brought a left hook around. The cartoons are right. You do see an explosion of stars. I was staggered but managed to make it through the round. Afterward it was as if nothing happened. He was wonderful friend who will be missed dearly. |
