After reading these eulogies I can only say yes; that's him. I, like SGT Rossetter, had the honor of serving with Ranger on his final mission. I shall never forget him standing straight and relaxed at the edge of the LZ as we lifted off at the end of a very long two days. He was encouraging each lift as he sent us out to board the inbound birds. As a cherry LT, I was so glad he was there to direct the fighting that day, but I never got the chance to tell him how much I appreciated and admired his leadership. He instilled so much confidence in me that I literally would have done anything he asked, because I knew I could do it if he suggested it. My elation at having survived the battle was short lived. The 1SG approached me when I stepped off the slick and informed me that Ranger was dead. I simply didn't believe him and forced a call to the remnant of the company to confirm it with my own ears. I can't remember a worse day in my entire tour. He remains an inspiration to me to this very day. Currahee, Ranger!
