I was floored to receive Chris' death notification on email today. Chris was a year behind me at school, but we participated in the Scoutmaster's Council Camporee two years in a row together, and then served for a year together as lieutenants in 4-7 Cav, 2ID, where he led an Aerial recon platoon and I had a Bradley Scout Platoon. Chris and I earned our Spurs together on a long two day Spur Ride back in the 2000. Though we were at different camps (due to the location of the airfield), Chris and I always gravitated to each other each time there was a full squadron event. He was one of the most genuine men I'd ever met, with a strong faith in Christ that gave him a quiet assurance most other lieutenants lacked. I'm sure he has finished reporting in to our heavenly Father and will wait for the rest of us to arrive to join him in time. |
