Robert Neal Hulley

West Point, 1952

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Earlene Hulley on January 28, 2011:

Bob attended elementary school in Lawton, Oklahoma, and graduated from Lawton High School with the class of 1946. He entered military service at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, that same year. After entering service he applied and was accepted to attend West Point, graduating with the Class of 1952. In 1975 Bob returned to Fort Sill where he was assigned as Provost Marshal. He was influenced by his many long time school friends and acquaintances to remain in Lawton following retirement from military service in 1976. For a short time he served as Deputy Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and moved to Oklahoma City. He later returned to Lawton and for several years served as a criminal justice planner for the Association of South Central Oklahoma County Governments.

Bob was a kind, tolerant and patient man with an outgoing personality who always had a positive attitude. He believed in being a good "leader". Bob promoted interaction between the Kiwanis Club and their Fort Sill Co-Op Partner (2d/18th FA Bn). He was active in the Armed Services YMCA and the assistance they provide to soldiers and their families. He loved people and believed in serving others as evidenced by the recognition he received for his many hours of volunteer work. Bob was a Christian man and a devoted choir member. He loved to sing and looked forward to our church Christmas Cantata each year. During a lengthy stay in the hospital he decided his health goal was to improve to the point he could participate in the cantata that year. He reached his goal. He indeed sang with the choir at Christmas time.

Bob, in his adult life, followed many of the teachings he received as a young student at West Point. He was devoted to duty, a very honorable man, and loyal beyond doubt.

No words can describe how much he is missed by our family and friends.
