To all Dennis' friends and family, I had the opportunity to attend the Academy with Dennis, to serve with Dennis over the last year and a half, and to take command alongside him in 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. This week, I attended Dennis' memorial ceremony in Baghdad, which was a fitting tribute to such a great Soldier, father, and husband. Dennis was honest and hard-working, and although he had only been in command for a short time, he was loved by the guys in his company. I will miss Dennis' great attitude, even at the worst of times. He was constantly working to bring food, water, electricity, and school supplies to the people of Eastern Baghdad. His death is a tragic loss, but we will continue to fight on. |
