Be Thou At Peace

Friends and Family of Captain Chris Johnson:

I am enormously proud to have served with Chris Johnson. He led with tremendous competence, heroic character, and ferverent loyalty to God and Country.
My most intimate interaction with Chris was through our involvement in the USMA's Scoutmaster's Council. When I served as commander/CIC, Chris served on my team as the "Area Chief," a role with responsibilities commeasurate with a garrison commander. Chris expertly planned the campsite and logistical arrangements for over 4,000 Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from the USA and Canada during the 1997 West Point Camporee. Throughout my year of working with him, I was constantly impressed with his ability to perform duties of great responsibility, without the least amount of stress. He reminded me of accounts of Ulysses Grant...within that quiet demeanor was a man who had every situation and contingency firmly under control. Colonel Michael Jones, CPT (now LTC) V.J. Tedesco, and CPT (now LTC)Jay Dymek, OICs of the Scoutmaster's Council, also noted the superb leadership and unlimited potential of Chris Johnson.
I was tremendously pleased to have Chris Johnson succeed me as commander of the Scoutmaster's Council. Chris's peers proudly selected him for this position, and he served the Scouting community and West Point with distinction.

To Chris's family and closest of friends, I offer my sincere sympathy and prayers for God's blessings. We mourn his loss, and miss his presence. Unequivocally, Chris Johnson has been a infuence of greatness upon me.
Most sincerely,

CPT Jim Crane
