Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Andrew Bagdonas on February 26, 2011:
Edward Bagdonas was a proud loving father and mentor to both of his sons. His death came as a suprise to all of us- we thought of him as a rock or pillar that would always be there to lean on. Throughout the years, many stories have filtered back to us- some during his West Point days, some during his Ranger training and some from Vietnam. After graduation, he represented the United States in the 1960 summer Olympics in Rome in the hammer. After two tours in Vietnam, he continued his armor career, serving in Germany twice, and eventually at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He retired after 21 years as a LTC; his last assignments were related to the development of the XM1 Battle Tank, which is now known as the M1 Abrams. After retirement, he settled back in his homestate of Massachusetts. He took a job with RCA, and continued to work on the development of the M1 from the civilian side.
My father was the best fishing partner I have ever had. He instilled in me the patience and love of nature that I now teach my children. Dad, you are truly missed, and always loved.
Your son, Andrew
