Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Jerry L Crosby, Sr on March 1, 2011:
Ted was my Squad Leader during Beast Barracks in 1958. I immediately did my best to win his approval. He was a real leader and soldier. Over the years I lost contact with Ted. In 2010 I found his address and gave him a call. His many questions to me made me realize that he still cared for me because I was a member of his Beast squad. I shall never forget watching television during the Vietnam Era and seeing my old Beast Squad Leader at the front, leading his Infantry Company in battle.
"My Squad Leader Ted has reached the end of his earthly toils. The brittle thread which bound him to Earth has been severed and the liberated spirit has winged its flight to the unknown world. The silver cord is loosed; the golden bowl is broken; the pitcher is broken at the fountain; and the wheel is broken at the cistern. The dust has returned to the Earth as it was, and the spirit has returned to GOD who gave it.
So mote it be.
