Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jerry L Crosby, Sr, of Arizona on March 12, 2011:

COL Pappas, I want to tell you how wonderful your book, "The Cadet Chapel" has been for all of those who have had the opportunity to read it and see the beautiful Class windows.

You mentioned in your biography that you had one short coming in your life that you would fulfill if you could do it all over again...that of becoming an Eagle Scout, I have been an Eagle Scout for 59 years. Nobody really cares what I think anymore....but I think you would have been an extraordinary Eagle Scout. Thank you for your contributions to West Point Cadets and others.

"My Brother George S. Pappas has reached the end of his earthly toils. The brittle thread which bound him to earth has been severed and the liberated spirit has winged its flight to the unknown world. The silver cord is loosed; the golden bowl is broken; the pitcher is broken at the fountain; and the wheel is broken at the cistern. The dust has returned to earth as it was, and the spirit has returned to GOD who gave it."

So Mote It Be.
