Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Mark Kramer on April 30, 2011:

I didn't know Jake for very long but I'd like to think I knew him pretty well. I met Jake while both of us were attending FA OBC at Ft. Sill, OK. We hung out from time to time and would go out for the occasional drink. I remember Jake used to proudly wear his West Point ring and one time the bartender at Girdlestone's called him a "ring knocker." He felt so embarrased. Well, she was a bartender in a military city, I am sure she those rings often. You just had to be there. Jake, you were a good soldier, classmate, and a gentle, corn fed Nebraska giant, who loved his Dodge Ram truck. I know it is a cliche to say, but you are in a better place; our world is falling a part at the seems. My prayers continue to go out to your friends and family. RIP ring knocker ;)
