Be Thou At Peace
Posted by John & Robin Horton on November 16, 2004:
Eric would almost certaninly have us all laughing about something if he were here right now. That was just his way. Conversations with Eric were always upbeat. He had a way of making you forget all about your worries and concerns when you were with him.
He was one of the happiest people you ever met, and his happiness and laughter were infectious. I'll Never Forget- . meeting Eric with John Njock at our Wedding. . taking Lucky for a run together last summer and wearing her out so much that she didn't come out from under Emily's bed for a whole day. . running to Grandpa's house together with Eric sprinting ahead back and forth. . The silly straw hat he gave Dad for Christimas. . His tremendous pride and relief upon graduation from West Point. . How very much he cared about John's safety in Iraq, even though he's only met him a couple times. . How he always had more ongoing plans and commitments than you would think twelve people could reasonably handle--and how he would succeed in all of them. . How he would call everyone up in the middle of the night, just to talk and catch up. . That even after four whole years away from his family and friends in Cameroun there was nothing he wanted more than to stay in the U.S. with his family and friends in Dighton.
Eric loved us more than we may ever fully appreciate. Eric really was a member of the Horton Family and we will never, ever forget him and the happiness he brought us all.
We will miss him,
Love Robin
