Be Thou At Peace

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIC November 16,2004
There is an emptiness in my heart that I don't think will ever be filled. You came into our family's life on a very special day. My son John was married, Robin joined our family, and we had to say goodbye to John Njock after four wonderful years. From that day forward, you became another son to Mom and me. Our lives were intertwined in every conceivable way. We shared so much; difficult and emotional times while John was in Iraq, plain old family times just hanging out,Christmas and Holiday's,discussing and debating every subject under the sun, talking through your concerns and worries while at West Point, and the many many adventures and fun times.I could fill a book with our stories. (i.e.Changing the name of Ann's Boat and your Lance Armstrong weekend!) Eric, I will always be grateful to you, for showing me how to appreciate things I had long since taken for granted. For the love and kindness that flowed so easily and genuinely from you. It was impossible to be sad or cynical for very long with you around. I would just look at the little smile starting to grow on your face, that told me you were up to something, and all would be right with the world. Mom and I cherished the thoughts of you someday returning to Dighton and having your own family, and being with all of us until we grew old. In our minds and our hearts, you will always be with us.
I will always love you,
Dad
