I met Bill during Beast Barracks in 6th Company. We spent the next four years in A-2. He roomed with Jim Hopper and Frank Thompson. I had many classes with him and spent a great deal of time with him. He was one of the truly "good guys". The first year or two he wanted to be called "Leroy", but later settled with "Bill", probably getting tired of correcting people. Bill was a lot of fun, had a great personality, and a quick wit. I was devasted when he was killed in Vietnam. I miss Bill. Keith Garner A-2 |
