Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Roger Ryan on June 11, 2011:

Bill and I were very good friends as cadets over 50 years ago. We both liked country and western and rock music and enjoyed sharing each others records! I had great respect for Bill - his free spirit, his academic abilities and his excellence in things geographical, which I also shared. After he and Cath moved to Australia, Bill and I shared a lot on e-mail of our homes, our aspirations and our interests - one of which was stamp collecting. He sent me an article he wrote on ' The Postal History of West Point', which was terrific. He and Cath came to Spokane for a stamp show and we were able to have a delightful dinner together along with my wife, Maria. What a pleasant evening getting to know each other again and sharing good memories. I enjoyed communicating with Bill for the 50th Reunion Yearbook and was very happy his bio reflected exactly who he was and his great independence. I was so sorry to hear he had passed on. His memory will indeed be with me for as long as I am here.
