Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Sapienza LTC, USA (ret) USMA '75 on November 18, 2004:

Eric, you made such a difference in the world.

From the first time I met you in Cameroon and helped you with the application process for admission to West Point, I was absolutely amazed at your persistence. Never had I met anyone who wanted so badly to be a part of the Long Gray Line. You hung in there, and finally you succeeded. I will never forget the huge smile you had, showing how proud you were, when I called you to my office to offer you the appointment.

When I came to USMA to visit you not too long ago and saw you at the parade that day, Eric, I was amazed again at your confidence as well as your tenacity. You walked right up to the Supe and pulled him over to introduce me to him.

You were a hell of a man, and you were on your way to becoming a fine officer.

You are going to be missed, Eric.
