Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Strange on November 18, 2004:

Climb to Glory Eric!

It was a privilege to work with you in Cadet Field Training during the summer of 2002. You were a great role and a superlative squad leader, one of the top two we had in 7th Company and I will never forget you. You demonstrated tremendous maturity and exceptional responsibility and integrity that summer. You had a cadet in your squad who was consistently belligerent, wouldn't take instruction from anyone, and didn't meet the physical standards we expect of our cadets. You did an exceptional job holding him accountable for his attitude and performance as well as setting the conditions for his separation later that year. An unbelievably tough situation for a cadet to be in and you acted with great maturity. More than many are apt to do, you did a tremendous amount of soul-searching that summer to make sure you were not being unfair to the cadets in your squad and that you were not demanding more from them than you expected from yourself. As much as you held others to the standard, you held yourself to a higher standard.

Well Done, Eric. Be Thou at Peace.
