Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Chandler M. Baldwin on November 24, 2004:

I never met my uncle. I was born seven years after his death. He died in a Japanese prison camp. His younger brother John was my father. Chan was the apple of my grandfather's eye, and his tragic death was a huge burden for my grandfather to bear. Perhaps tragic is too simplistic of a description for one death amoung millions of other deaths in the era of a "world gone mad". Still, he was one of America's finest, and his loss to the world can only be viewed in terms of what human potential was never realized. I wish I could have known him.
