Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Don Johantges on December 1, 2004:

I had the distinct pleasure of working for LTC Bill Bowers from 1998 until his retirement from the military in 1999. I learned a lot from this great man in a short time working on engineering projects along the Red Sea in both Africa and the Arabian peninsula. Not only was he a great engineer, but a diplomat for his country. To this day, I use the rules of thumb that he taught me in not only the Arabian peninsula but also in Afghanistan. But more importantly, I learned from him to spend quality time with my family during those precious times that we have together.

Bill, your legacy and message of hope will continue to be spread to this desolate portion of the world by me and all of the other Army Engineers that you have come in contact with over the years. I can only hope to do half as much as you had.

Father, Leader, Statesman - You will be gravely missed by all. Be thou at peace.
