Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Paul Neal on December 11, 2004:
I cannot begin to describe my regret at the loss of Eric Mbog-Hob. The single greatest thing I will remember about Eric is that he always smiled. He was a professional, he gave everything he had in everything he did; as a cadet Platoon leader, in Sandhurst, in his classes, and as a friend. He was the guy that you could ask anything of and know that he would not hesitate to help. In so many ways Eric was a role model. As a platoon leader it was incredible to see him take charge and earn the respect of his subordinates. Similarly he earned the respect of his peers. I am confident that he would have made any unit he served with anywhere in the world very proud. Eric also knew how to have a good time. He is immortalized in our Firehouse Firstie picture as he stands in what he called his traditional warrior garb (a cloth diaper made from a t-shirt, some face paint and a broomstick spear). Eric, I will always take comfort in the thought that you are smiling down on us from above. You will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Wobble wobble...
