I'm sorry to have missed contacting my Colonel before he departed to Fiddlers' Green, but am sure I will see him in the future. Col. D was my CO with 2/3 Cav. in Kaiserslautern (1966) and I had the good fortune to meet with him briefly again in Saigon in 1969. One of the finest men I have ever known. Capable, flambouyant, cheerful, and a hard worker, under very adverse conditions in Germany, he inspired us all..... Commandant, hq. 2/3 |
